International Energy Agency
Tim Gould was appointed the Agency’s Chief Energy Economist in 2021. As Chief Energy Economist, he provides strategic advice on energy economics across a wide range of IEA activities and analysis. Mr Gould is also Head of the Division for Energy Supply and Investment Outlooks, in which capacity he co[1]leads the World Energy Outlook, the IEA’s flagship publication, and oversees the Agency’s work on investment and finance, including the World Energy Investment report. Mr Gould joined the IEA in 2008, initially as a specialist on Russian and Caspian energy, and in recent years has designed and directed the World Energy Outlook together with the IEA’s Chief Energy Modeller while contributing to the Outlook as a principal author. Prior to joining the IEA, Mr Gould worked on European and Eurasian energy issues in Brussels and has ten years of experience in Eastern Europe, primarily in Ukraine. He graduated from Oxford University and has a post-graduate diploma from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University.

Rohitesh “Ro” Dhawan is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). Under his leadership, ICMM has undertaken landmark commitments and action on critical sustainable development issues, including the first industry-wide net zero commitment, pioneering actions on diversity, equity and inclusion, and significant steps towards radical transparency of the industry’s contribution and performance, including on tax and contract disclosure.
Ro is a Fellow and faculty member of the Africa Leadership Initiative and a Raisina fellow at the Asian Forum on Global Governance. He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Columbia Centre for Sustainable Investment, Concordia, and Resolve. He has served on the UK Government’s Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (PACT) Programme and was named one of South Africa’s climate change leaders for his work with the country’s mining sector.
Ro hold a Master’s in Environmental Change & Management from the University of Oxford in the UK and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Rhodes University in South Africa.

Mike Henry is Chief Executive Officer of BHP. He leads a global organisation of 80,000 people across 90 locations, providing resources that are central to decarbonisation and continued economic growth.
Mike brings more than 30 years of deep and diverse experience in the resources industry to the role. He has held leadership roles spanning operational, commercial, and technical expertise, and in jurisdictions across Australia, Asia, North America, and Europe.
Mike is a strong advocate for the role that the resources industry can play in delivering value for all stakeholders. He is committed to driving higher standards of safety and operational excellence, supporting a diverse workforce and maintaining a deep commitment to host communities. Mike leads with a fundamental belief in BHP’s values and our purpose: to bring people and resources together to build a better world.
Mike became BHP’s CEO on 1 January 2020, after more than 17 years with the company and having served as a member of the Executive Leadership Team since 2011. Prior to joining BHP, Mike worked in the resources industry in Canada, Japan and Australia.
He was born in Canada, holds a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) from the University of British Columbia and lives in Melbourne with his wife of 30 years. He and his wife have two adult daughters who live in Canada.

Anglo American plc
Duncan was appointed Chief Executive of Anglo American and joined the Anglo American plc Board in April 2022. Duncan is Chair of the Anglo American Group Management Committee (GMC) and a member of the Board’s Sustainability Committee. Duncan is also the Chairman of De Beers Group of Companies and is a non-executive director of Anglo American Platinum and Kumba Iron Ore.
He has been part of Anglo American for 33 years and has held various executive positions during this time. From July 2016, Duncan was Group Director – Strategy and Business Development. He also served as CEO of the Base Metals business from 2013 to 2019. He chaired the Anglo American Foundation from 2018 to 2022.
Duncan held the position of Group Director – Other Mining and Industrial between 2009 and 2013. He served on the board of Anglo American Platinum from 2004 to 2008 and was appointed joint interim CEO of Anglo American Platinum in 2007, before taking over as CEO of Anglo American’s Copper operations in 2008.
Duncan holds the qualifications of a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and a GDE in Industrial Engineering, both from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
Duncan is a keen cyclist, participating in long distance cycling competitions when he can. He is also a classic car enthusiast, an avid Watford Football Club fan and enjoys flying model helicopters.

Fiona Hick is Chief Executive Officer of Fortescue Metals Group. Fortescue is one of the world’s lowest cost iron ore producers and is recognised for its strong culture, values, people and innovation. Fiona brings over 27 years of experience in the resources industry to her role and has held leadership positions spanning operational, technical and sustainability functions. Fiona places great importance on safety performance and operational excellence, building diverse teams and a culture of continuous improvement. Fiona joined Fortescue in February 2023 and is leading Fortescue to build on its iron ore business and become a global metals and green energy company. Fiona was President of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy in Western Australia from 2021 to 2023, the first female President in the Chamber's 121-year history, and in 2019 was awarded the Outstanding Woman in Resources Award. Fiona was born in Australia and lives in Perth with her husband and three children. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Studies from Murdoch University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Western Australia.

Sanjeev was appointed Orica’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in April 2021, after previously holding the role of Group Executive and President, Australia Pacific and Asia since July 2020.

During his 26-year career with BASF, Sanjeev held several senior marketing, commercial and business leadership roles including Head of Asia Pacific and Head of Global Chemicals Segment (Intermediates & Petrochemicals).

Professor Deborah Terry AO is Vice-Chancellor and President of The University of Queensland (UQ). Prior to commencing this role in August 2020, she served as Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University, in Western Australia (from February 2014 to July 2020).
Professor Terry was made an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO) in June 2015, in recognition of her distinguished service to education in the tertiary sector.
She is the Deputy Chair of the University Foreign Interference Taskforce Steering Group and is a former Chair of the Board of Universities Australia. Professor Terry is also a Fellow and past President of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia; an appointed member of the Australian Research Council Advisory Council; and serves on the Australia and New Zealand School of Government Board, the National Schools Resourcing Board and the AARNET Board.
Having grown up in Perth and Canberra, Professor Terry completed her PhD in Social Psychology at the Australian National University in Canberra. From there, she commenced her distinguished career at UQ in 1990, initially as an internationally recognised scholar in psychology. During her 24 years at UQ, Professor Terry progressed through a number of senior leadership roles to become Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, before leaving for her role as Vice-Chancellor of Curtin University in early 2014.

Prof. LI Xiaohong is an expert in mining safety technology and a native of Chongqing. He graduated from Chongqing University in December 1993 with a doctorate in engineering. He served as President of Chongqing University, President of Wuhan University, Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Mine Disaster Dynamics and Control. He is currently President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

Tania Constable PSM, joined the Minerals Council of Australia in July 2018 where she is proud to promote and advocate for a strong, vibrant and innovative minerals industry in Australia.
Prior to this, Tania was Chief Executive Officer of the CO2CRC (Collaborative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technologies) a leading global research organisation testing carbon capture and storage low emission technologies in Australia.
Tania previously worked as chief adviser in the Personal and Retirement Income Division of Treasury, working on tax-related matters and has had a long association with resources and energy, holding various senior executive roles in the Australian Government. Tania had responsibility for policy advice to the Minister for Industry on oil and gas regulation, exploration and development, and sustainable mining activities.
During this time Ms Constable also had the privilege of being the Australian Joint Commissioner and Sunrise Commissioner for Australia and Timor Leste leading joint activities on the development of the Joint Petroleum Development Area and Greater Sunrise Project.
She was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2014 for outstanding public service in the development of Australia’s liquefied natural gas and other resource and energy industries.

Sinead became Chief Executive, Minerals in March 2021. Since Sinead joined Rio Tinto in 1997 as a geologist, she has held senior leadership and operational roles across Aluminium, Copper & Diamonds, Energy & Minerals, and Iron Ore. She joined the Executive Committee in early 2021. Sinead brings strong operational expertise combined with a track record of delivering future-focused sustainability outcomes. Sinead has led the Minerals business to play a central role in driving growth, for example, through the acquisition of the Rincon Lithium Project in Argentina, which supports our battery materials strategy. She is also playing a leading role in many sustainability initiatives to help us reach our decarbonisation ambition.

Mr Pérez de Solay is a qualified industrial engineer with a career spanning engineering, operational improvement, banking, finance and executive management. Prior to joining Orocobre Limited, he was the President and CEO of Petroleos Sudamericanos, an oil and gas producer operating in Argentina and Colombia where he oversaw new operations and assets, and led major stakeholder initiatives. Prior to 2011, Mr Pérez de Solay was CFO and head of Corporate Development of GeoPark, an oil and gas operator in Argentina and Chile. He was a key member of the Geopark executive team that established its asset base and subsequently listed the company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). Mr Pérez de Solay joined Geopark from Citigroup where he had spent a decade in institutional, corporate and restructuring activities.

Ailie MacAdam is an elected Director on the Bechtel Group Board and President of the Mining & Metals business unit, with responsibility for all aspects of its operations across global markets, primarily in The Americas, Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.
Ailie has over 35 years of expertise managing complex transportation and civil infrastructure megaprojects in Australia, the U.K., and the U.S., in addition to oil, gas, and chemicals projects in Europe and Africa.
Ailie holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Bradford University in the U.K. and is a fellow of the U.K. Institution of Civil Engineers. She is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) ambassador and a champion of diversity and inclusivity.

Newmont Corporation
Tom Palmer became President and Chief Executive Officer and joined the Board of Directors of Newmont Corporation effective October 1, 2019.
He served as President since June 2019 and as President and Chief Operating Officer from November 2018 until June 2019. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since May 2016. Mr. Palmer was elected Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific in February 2015 after serving as Senior Vice President, Indonesia since March 2014.
Prior to joining Newmont Corporation, he was the Chief Operating Officer, Pilbara Mines at Rio Tinto Iron Ore. Over a 20-year career with Rio Tinto, Mr. Palmer worked in a variety of roles across a number of commodities, including General Manager, Technology for the Bauxite and Alumina business; General Manager, Operations at Hail Creek coal mine; and General Manager, Asset Management at Palabora Mining Company in South Africa.
Mr. Palmer brings extensive experience leading teams and delivering production while implementing safety culture programs and improving diversity. He earned a Master of Engineering Science degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Dr Cathy Foley AO PSM commenced as Australia’s ninth Chief Scientist in January 2021 after an extensive career at Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO.
Dr Foley is an internationally recognised physicist with major research achievements in superconductors and sensors which lead to the development of the LANDTEM™ sensor system to locate valuable deposits of minerals deep underground, resulting in discoveries and delineation of minerals worth more than $6 billion.
Dr Foley’s scientific excellence and influential leadership have been recognised with numerous awards and fellowships, including election to the Australian Academy of Science in 2020, along with an Order of Australia for service to research science and to the advancement of women in physics. She is also a Fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering (2008) and an honorary Fellow of Australian Institute of Physics (2019).
Dr Foley is an inspiration to women in STEM across the globe and is committed to tackling gender equality and diversity in the science sector to embrace the full human potential of all.

Appointed as Interim CEO at Newcrest in December 2022, Sherry joined Newcrest as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in February 2022. She has nearly three decades of experience across global energy and resource companies, most recently at Woodside Energy and Shell before that./nHaving been CFO at two top ASX-listed companies, Sherry is a seasoned international executive leader across the finance and commercial sectors, having previously lived and worked in North America, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East before moving to Australia in 2017.

Michael Wright was appointed Executive Chair of Thiess in February 2020 and Chief Executive Officer in July 2021. Michael has over 30 years’ experience across the resources & industrial industries in Australia, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Prior to being appointed to the joint role of Executive Chair and CEO of Thiess, Michael was the CEO of ASX listed CIMIC Group, responsible for leading Sedgman, UGL, CPB Contractors, Leighton Asia and Thiess. He joined Thiess in 1998, starting as a Project Manager, and has held leadership and operational roles in the mining, construction and services sector, giving him expertise across operations, technical, commercial and strategy. Michael is a highly regarded and innovative leader focused on delivering value to clients and inspiring operational excellence by building strong, safe and performance-driven teams. He serves as a Director of the Minerals Council of Australia and the Sustainable Minerals Institute and is Chair of the International RiverFoundation Board. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Civil from the University of Sydney and a Master of Engineering Science from the University of New South Wales.
